Bioceramics Exploration

Ongoing exploration

Following the development of Impending Shift, this pieces are a continuum which extend the material, technical, and conceptual exploration of the artistic practice, guided by new materialism and Guatemalan local knowledge. This work investigates how matter can become an active collaborator in processes of repair and regeneration.

These ongoing experiments continue transforming eggshells into bioceramic. However, two main focal points have emerged: first, the continuous exploration of a color palette created through the mixture and interaction of indigo, cochinilla, palo de vida, and wood ash; and second, the interrelation between bioceramics and fibres, expanding beyond the framework established in Impending Shift.

This process has sparked curiosity about the boundaries of colorimetry and opened new scenarios through objects that examine the relationship between fragility, resilience, and circularity, as well as the interplay of textures.

It remains an unstructured and evolving process, one that I continue to develop as part of the deepening of the artistic practice.
